Tremella Mushroom Pomegranite Gelatin Gummies Recipe
I've been making these gummies every day for a while now, and I've noticed a real boost in my nails, hair, and skin since I started. I've also been reading Dr. Ray Peat's ideas on pro-metabolic nutrition and experimenting with his approach, with gelatin playing a key part in my regimen. Experimenting with different herbs and juice combinations has been a fun journey, and this recipe using pomegranate juice and tremella mushroom extract has really stood out for me. It's not just about the taste. It has become a little daily ritual that helps me feel my best.
What I love about this method is its flexibility. The basic ratio is just 1 cup of juice (or tea or any liquid you like) to 3 tablespoons of gelatin, so you can easily swap out the juice for something else to suit your mood or your health goals. Whether you're aiming for a nutrient boost or simply a delicious treat, this adaptable recipe makes it simple to create your own personalized gummy snacks. Enjoy the process and feel free to get creative with your ingredients!
Organic Pomegranate Juice:
This juice isn’t just tasty. It is a real nutritional powerhouse, packed with antioxidants and vitamin C to support heart health and fight inflammation. There is also promising evidence that its natural compounds help promote fertility in women by supporting healthy blood flow and hormonal balance. Go for organic juices packaged in glass and not from concentrate.
Grass-Fed Beef Gelatin:
Gelatin might sound gross, but it is a natural source of many of the same amino acids found in collagen. These amino acids are key for keeping your skin, joints, and gut in good shape. Although it is not exactly the same as a collagen supplement, gelatin still offers great benefits for tissue repair and overall wellness, especially when sourced from grass-fed animals. Many of these products can be contaminated with heavy metals, so it’s important to find a brand that does third party testing regularly.
Tremella Mushroom Extract:
Often called the "beauty mushroom," tremella extract is known for its hydrating properties, working much like a natural moisturizer for your skin. It is rich in antioxidants, which help boost your immune system and keep inflammation in check, making it a fantastic ingredient for overall well-being. I’m also noting that this doesn’t have a strong flavor. In this recipe I used Tremella Mushroom Triple Extract from Subluna. Use my link for $10 off your first order.
Raw Honey:
Raw honey does more than just sweeten your gummies. It brings a host of health benefits to the mix. Loaded with enzymes, antioxidants, and antimicrobial properties, it is excellent for digestion and immune support. I always recommend finding a raw honey that is local to you and is packaged in glass.
Tremella Mushroom Pomegranite Gelatin Gummies Recipe
Ingredients
1 cup organic pomegranate juice (not from concentrate)
3 tablespoons grass fed finished beef gelatin
4 dropperfuls Subluna tremella mushroom extract ($10 off your first order with my link)
1 tablespoon raw honey (to be added at the end)
Silicone molds (or any small mold of your choice)
Instructions
Bloom the Gelatin:
In a small bowl, pour 1/4 cup of the pomegranate juice.
Sprinkle the 3 tablespoons of gelatin evenly over the juice.
Let it sit for 5 minutes to bloom (this allows the gelatin to fully absorb the liquid and swell).
Heat the Juice:
In a small saucepan, gently warm the remaining 3/4 cup of pomegranate juice over low heat.
Important: Do not let the juice boil, as high temperatures can damage the gelatin’s setting properties.
Combine and Dissolve:
Add the bloomed gelatin mixture into the warmed juice.
Stir continuously until the gelatin is completely dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
Add the Mushroom Extract:
Remove the saucepan from heat.
Stir in the 4 dropperfuls of tremella mushroom extract until evenly distributed.
Sweeten:
Finally, add 1 tablespoon of raw honey.
Stir well to ensure all ingredients are fully incorporated.
Mold and Set:
Carefully pour the final mixture into your silicone molds.
Place the molds in the refrigerator and let them chill for at least 2 hours (or until fully set).
Enjoy:
Once set, pop the gummies out of the molds.
Store any extras in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
