Herbal Preparations with Rosemary

Rosemary is a pretty mild and safe herb, taken internally. There are no contraindications or reported side effects. There are no reported interactions with any drugs. The only people who should avoid this herb are those with an allergy to Rosemary or other plants in the same family.

Rosemary Dosage

Commission E recommends a daily dosage of 4-6 grams of dried rosemary per day or an equivalent preparation. (Hoffman, D.)

Rosemary Tincture Dosage

Tincture dosage is 1-2 ml, 3x per day at 1:5 strength made with 40% alcohol. (Hoffman, D.)

  • Volatile Oils - borneol, camphere, camphor, cineole, limonene, linalool

  • Rosmarinic acid and other phenolic acids

  • Diterpenes - carnosol, carnosolic acid and rosmarinquinone

  • Rosmaricine

  • Triterpenes - ursolic acid, oleanolic acid
